But what if the final copy doesn't meet standards what happens? -All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence. -The majority of teachers are white female. --One question that I had was just what it meant to have national board certification? Does that mean you don't need to renew you teaching certificate, or is it a high honor that looks fantastic on a resume? I really don't remember if the book made it clear

--I didn't realize that it was common practice for a teacher to teach a subject they weren't qualified to teach; I thought it was just my high school.
Great points here! The teaching force is lacking diversity, and minority students are missing role models. This is a part of the hidden curriculum too. Who has knowledge then for these children--only Whites??? Who is successful to them then--only White females???? Who develops knowledge then? What knowledge and whose knowledge is constructed and then valued??? It is so important that we have more diversity in education!!! It matters if you become a teacher leader.
Good points here! Ask in the Big Class discussion about National Board Certification. I discussed that with a few groups already, and I think many of your peers have this same question. I want to be clear about that one for the whole class. A lot of students, especially students in impoverished areas, have teachers who are teaching out of their content area. That makes a big difference in the end, and you can see how some students are privileged over others with their educations and with their opportunities then.

Fact: In a survey of teachers by the National Education Association (2003), over half of the teachers indicate that they originally chose teaching because of the value of education to society.
Question: Do many teacher's really substitude in schools for a year or more and wait for a job opening in a wealthier school before beginning there teaching.
