    1. Is it not ethical to state that the same way a teacher shouldn’t teach for the money, a student should not learn for the grade but rather the knowledge and education s/he is to gain from it? Has the emphasis on the grading system been the one of the largest downfalls in American education? How would you, my reader, reform and restructure the battle between ‘education for the knowledge - v. – grading/assessment for the placement’? (Txtbk. Chpt. 12)

    Fact: Magnet schools were once limited to a few large cities, but today they number more than 4,000 elementary and secondary schools and help more than 2 million students.

    In the late 1980's, beginning teachers earned $12,000 to $13,000. By 2007, the national average for beginning teachers was almost $32,500.

    Question: It is undeniable that there are teachers that are more skilled in their profession than others. However, virtually all educators seem to agree that standardized testing does not reveal these teachers. How then can effective teachers be measured? If they can be, should they recieve bonuses such as extra pay?
