1. Question: Is it the heart and caring of a teacher that makes s/he effective? Perhaps it is the education, intellect, and experience s/he brings to the lessons? Then again, could it be the discipline and manner of control s/he has over the class? Is it the presentation and/or manner in which s/he teaches? Answer: The most effective teacher possesses and encompasses all of the above. (Txtbk. Chpt. 6)

3. The research suggests that experts in any field demonstrate skill in planning and in classifying problems and formulation solutions. This is no less true for teachers: the expert teacher shows problem-solving skills like those of other experts, whether in chess, or bridge, or physics. The studies also indicate that the process of evolving from novice to expert teacher takes considerable time b/c extensive experience is necessary to develop enough episodic knowledge to interpret information about classrooms. College courses don't actually prepare prospective teachers to teach the knowledge students are expected to learn (page 180). How can prospective teachers better prepare themselves for this?

Question: If it is most important that whatever subject matter you teach, you feel enthusiasm for it, why in many smaller schools or even lower class schools are teachers pushed to tae ch outside of subject matter because of shortages in qualified teachers for that certain area?

If students claim that you are favoring a child, what is the best way to deal with that?
The book says that the better teachers out in the world can teach their students thirty minutes longer than the average teacher can.
