    1. Job options in education?... The sky’s the limit, right?! Or are we talking monetary and status/prestige compensation? Just because one has obtained a higher degree, does this then mean that s/he is better qualified and/or more suited and appropriate for the job? With so many degrees available now, which one is best for teaching? (Txtbk. Chpt. 13)

  4. Question: Why is a teachers salary so low compared to other careers that require the same hard work as a teacher?

    Fact: There are more than twice as many K-12 teachers as registered nurses and five times as many teachers as either lawyers or professors in this country.

  5. Question: If teachers play such a crutial role in shaping the minds of th future, then why are teachers paid so little. Shouldn't teachers have the same salary as that of a doctor or lawyer?

    Fact: The teachers who choose to work in a private school have taken an average salary that is 25% lower than that a public school teacher makes.

    Fact: Alternate licensure programs have been developed as a response to 1) teacher shortages and 2) the perception of lawmakers that courses in education contribute little to a teacher's effectiveness.

    -There is a demand for male teachers at the elementary school level, where they account for less than 10% of the teaching force.

    Is it a lack of respect why teachers don't have a high income? And has recent education news [firing of an entire district, and unions butting head] only support those who think teachers should be paid minimally?

  12. Question: Substitute teaching would take up an entire day. How could a student fit in an entire day of substitute teaching when they are already a full time student themselves?
